In order to ensure the guarding and protection of public institutions, goods and values, according to the provisions of Law no.333/2003 ,the Romanian Gendarmerie has the following attributions :

to approve the guarding plans for the institutions guarded by gendarmes and establish the amount of weapons and ammunition necessary to accomplish these missions ;
to give support in organizing the missions for the guarding and protection the public institutions, goods and values, in training the personnel, in supplying weapons and equipment, and to monitor the carrying out of the measures established in the guarding plans ;
to ensure, by rent, the weapons necessary to equip the guarding personnel that carries out this mission for other institutions ;
to organize training courses and approve the training plan documents for the personnel involved in guarding public institutions and protecting public persons ;
to advise and supervise shooting training activities, only for the guarding personnel of the units that have joint guarding system.
